My little sister, Hannah Banana, is a very smart girl. She has been able to read, write, and spell fairly well since the age of four.
But, this morning, I walked downstairs to see the word “Jabnastiks” written on the white board.
After a few minutes of observing my little sisters’ play, I realized they were playing gymnastics with their stuffed animals.
I have to admit, I chuckled.
Today is a very special day. Quite a few years ago, my dear mother was born.
Just a few things I love about my mother:
My mother loves the Lord. She is one of His called, and wants nothing more than to serve Him and please Him all the days of her life. She has no greater joy than to see her children walk in Truth. She brought six lives into this world. She teaches them from His Word and prays that the Lord would call each of them His own.
My mother loves her home. She loves adventure and outings along with her family, but on most days, she would rather stay home under the comfort of our roof. She serves her family constantly, and usually unacknowledged, with a sweet and quiet spirit.
My mother is brilliant, and hilarious. She is a free thinker and never hides her opinions. She takes the time to talk with all of her children, in all seriousness, but she is also able to laugh at the situations at hand. She jokes and laughs with us on a daily basis. Her sense of humor is what makes life in the Kudzu house magical! She can match anybody with her wits, and she knows it!
My mother is spontaneous, as well as my father. With the both of them as our parents, we have come to appreciate the fact that spontaneity is the spice of life! Some of my fondest memories were things that happened without any planning whatsoever. While teaching and modeling the fact that it’s certainly wise to plan and prepare, my mother also has fun with us simply by being herself and taking things as they come. She can also turn anything into a school lesson!
My mother is beautiful. Literally, she is strikingly gorgeous. Truly. If you don’t believe me, watch the video below. Actually, watch it anyway. I worked hard on it.
Happy Birthday, Ma mére.
(Another little known fact about my mother: she loves blog traffic. And even more, she loves comments. Help make her birthday grand, head over to her blog and leave a comment! Lurkers, today is your day to come out and show your appreciation for the fantastic and whimsical, Lady Why!)

June 6th, 2008In the News, Musicals No CommentsBuzzing around the world of musicals, is the talk of a new film version of My Fair Lady.
http://www.broadwayworld.com/viewcolumn.cfm?colid=28676
While I definitely love the original movie, I actually think this could be good… if they choose to do it well. I certainly hope the movie makers will have enough sense to keep true to the story. I’m sure many die-hard My Fair Lady fans will be upset if they do not.
An excerpt from the linked article:
“The new film will use the original songs of the much-loved Broadway show, and will not alter its 1912 setting, but Kenworthy and Mackintosh intend where possible to shoot the film on location in the original London settings of Covent Garden, Drury Lane, Tottenham Court Road, Wimpole Street, and Ascot racecourse.
The filmmaking team will also look to adapt Alan Jay Lerner’s book more fully for the screen by drawing additional material from Pygmalion – George Bernard Shaw’s play that served as the source material for the musical – in order to dramatize as believably as possible for present-day audiences the emotional highs and lows of Eliza Doolittle as she undergoes the ultimate makeover, transforming under the tutelage of Professor Henry Higgins from a Cockney flower girl to a lady. “
Screen star Keira Knightley is in talks to star as Eliza. It’s not a bad choice, she does well in period pieces like the most recent “Pride and Prejudice,” actually, I’ve never heard of her doing any movies that have been set in modern times.
I’m not sure how she’ll handle the role of Eliza. Eliza is an outspoken and crass flower girl for most of the story, and I can’t quite imagine Keira Knightley in those circumstances. And unless she is has a secret musical talent, she won’t be doing the singing. I’m interested to see how this will play out.
Also, I’m jumping on the fast-growing bandwagon for Julie Andrews to star as Henry Higgins’ mother! As the original Eliza on the stage, and the whole backstory as to how she was snubbed for the movie version (though she seemed gracious about it) it would only be fitting to bring her back in this movie. How amazing would that be?
As for Henry Higgins, I’m a bit worried about that. It seems impossible for anyone to be able to fill Rex Harrison’s shoes in that role. It was perfect for him.
So, I’m anxiously waiting for more information on this movie, and I’m keeping my hopes high that the movie makers will do justice to this classic musical.
I love June.
I think it is my favorite month. March is my second favorite month. Followed by May and then April. But June is my favorite. I love the way the word rolls off the tongue… June.
I especially love the weather. Ahhhhhh, It’s finally summer!
I associate most months with a color, April is pink, March is orange, February – red, January – white, and so on.
Here’s what June makes me think of:

Beautiful, bright, sunshiny yellow. It’s refreshing to the soul.
And, of course, I shall leave you with a link to my favorite June song.
